Key partners run iLearnabout pilot in schools

iLearnabout has carried out teacher training with key partners, Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW), Wildlife Clubs of Kenya, and Elsa Conservation Trust, who are now running the pilot programme on Biodiversity in schools. The sessions have proved hugely popular, with more schools requesting the digital lessons.

The training was delivered online by Kay Smith, Educationalist at iLearnabout. The same training has also begun with partners in Zambia.

Elsa Conservation Trust provided 20 tree seedlings to each of their pilot schools, to establish biodiversity reserves as a practical activity after completing the iLearnabout Biodiversity lessons.

Training was conducted in conjunction with the ANAW education team and four teachers, who are now each running the pilot in their respective schools. 50 children have signed up for each school club.

Wildlife Clubs of Kenya are delivering the pilot programme in 5 schools to around 250 children in total.

iLearnabout is gathering feedback from all parties, including stakeholders, teachers and children. Pre and post testing and feedback sessions are being used to monitor knowledge gain, attitude change and participation in practical projects to support biodiversity locally.

All the schools who took part in the pilot are looking forward to the next topic, which is currently being created.
